Lush Lip Scrub

Lush Lip Scrub is heaven sent.

I’ve always had dry chapped lips since time immemorial. Most of my life I didn’t even care. In fact, I am guilty of biting off dried skin on my lips until it bleeds.

Just now I’ve been getting a hang of purchasing lipsticks (even if I’m such a make-up dud) and I come to realize that chapped lips can totally ruin those pretty lips. So I Googled ways on how to exfoliate to keep my lips soft. I was overwhelmed by so many products online. In fact, I stumbled upon a home made lip scrub that are made of basic ingredients: sugar, honey and coconut oil.

Knowing me, I’d be too lazy to make one myself. I Googled some more and found Lush Lip Scrub. Since the reviews are very high, I’ve decided to try it myself.

When I got to Lush at Trinoma, the sales lady handed me two cute little tester bottles. One was popcorn flavor which to me did not smell like popcorn at all. So the best choice would be the other bottle, the bubble gum flavored one which has that sweet yummy smell.

I immediately tried it once I got home. Before anything else, I checked to see the contents of the lip scrub. According to the bottle, it is made of caster sugar, organic jojoba oil, alpha-isomethyl, flavor and coloring.

To try it on, I just needed just a small pinch of the sugar for maximum coverage of the lips. It’s so sweet, I even want to put more on. After scrubbing for about a minute, “Hello, soft, sweet, luscious lips!”The best part of it, you can lick off whatever remains after you’re done scrubbing.

The following day, it was put to the test when I had to use a matte lipstick. Conclusion: Lush Lip Scrub works wonders for the lips. My lips did not dry out the entire day. Having said so, I would probably be having a long loving relationship with this product.

The only cons of this product would be that it’s a bit messy to apply. You better make sure that you apply it in front of a mirror. Otherwise you might find yourself with sugar on your face. Also, I think some might find it too pricey at P450.00 for something that can be made at home with cheap ingredients.

The Maginhawa Street Series

For the past few months, I’ve been seeing variations of foodie guides to Maginhawa St. such as this one:

photo from:

After having gone through various maps such as this one, all I can say is that these maps do not give justice to the food haven that is Maginhawa St. There are lots of hole in the wall restaurants yet to be included on these maps.

Luckily, I just live a couple of blocks away so I’m always updated on what’s new. Perhaps this will be my new project: The Maginhawa Street Series. From time to time, I will try to write about the restaurants in the area. Wish me luck!

Bucas Grande Island

In the far sleepy town of Soccoro in the province of Surigao del Norte I have found one of our country’s hidden natural gems.

Sohoton in Bucas Grande Island is a reality for those who longed and dreamt of complete peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the Metro. If there’s one word to describe Bucas Grande: Breathtaking.

Apart from the crystal clear lakes and lagoons, I was also awestruck by the wonder inside the Crystal cave. Inside you’ll find rock formations sparkling with crystals, stalagmites and stalactites.  Please note that tourists are not allowed to touch the crystals as they automatically lose their sparkle once they do.

Another highlight of my visit was the Jellyfish Lagoon. Before I used to think that stingless jellyfish only existed in Palau. Little did I know that we also have the same attraction here in Bucas Grande.

Since the there are a million jellyfish in the lagoon and that their bodies are so delicate, motorized boats are not allowed. Good thing they have this small boats good for two persons where you can transfer and paddle away.

Since I don’t know how to swim, I just marvelled on the beauty of the surroundings on the boat. Good thing the waters are so clear that I was able to appreciate and enjoy the view. Plus I was able to catch and hold a jellyfish. It felt weird and yeah, they really are stingless. However, I was told not to hold it above water from more than 7 seconds otherwise they lose their tentacles and die.

Apart from what was seen on these photos, Bucas Grande have a lot more to offer. You can even go snorkelling and island hopping to and enjoy the pristine white sand beaches. Best part of it is total privacy.

At the end of the day, you can recharge at the magnificent water villas of Club Tara Resort.

If you’re looking for quirky, cheap trinkets, Soulmade will be definitely perfect for you.

One Sunday, I happened to be at UP Town Center to meet my cousins and the kiddos for late lunch. While waiting for our orders, I went out to check on the small bazar outside. Since service at the restaurant was fast and they immediately called me back, I didn’t have much time to go around. Lucky thing I was still able to score these amazing finds:

The best part of it was that I got them all for under Php700.00. What a great deal! I was happy that I didn’t forget to ask for their business card. As expected, they are selling these lovelies on Facebook and Instagram. In fact, I already placed my order on other goodies that are to die for.

To add a bit of kick to your OOTD, you can order yours now at: or @soulmadeph on instagram

Pink’s Manila

If you’re a fan of America’s Next Top Model, you’d probably remember one photoshoot during the All Stars Cycle where the models posed for Pink’s Hotdogs, one of Los Angeles’ best hotdog joint. Now the franchise has made its way in the Philippines and opened its first store in Bonifacio Global City.

Just this afternoon, me and my friend Karen had the chance to try the famous Pink’s hotdog. Since we were both rushing to get back at our individual offices, we just asked for their best sellers. Upon the recommendation of the cashier, we ordered The Hollywood Legend and Philly Cheesesteak Dog.

Upon serving, we both looked at each other and told ourselves that we may not be able to eat the entire thing because of the generous serving size. Little did we know that our plates would be emptied just a few minutes after because the hotdogs were so good. I think this is the first time I’ve really enjoyed a child dog.

It may seem a bit pricey for a hotdog to be worth around 250 to 350 pesos, but hell it was worth it. I can’t wait to be back again. Next time I’ll make sure to compliment my chili dog with a bottle of ice cold draft beer.

Pink’s Manila: It is not any ordinary hotdog.

The Mala Tree

“When you buy from The Mala Tree, you just don’t buy the crystals. You buy the ceremony, the belief system, and, most of all, the effectivity.”The Mala Tree

To roll out the good vibes, let me start off by sharing with you my new found secret to a more positive and abundant life, The Mala Tree.

I must admit that I used to be a cynic (or just plain kuripot) when it comes to purchasing feng shui ornaments, lucky crystals or beads. However, that all changed in about a month starting from the day I found a sponsored ad of The Mala Tree via Instagram. I remember my friends and I were just looking for rose quartz bracelets to better their chances in love. Luckily, it has a physical store on Sundays in Maginhawa Street which is just a few blocks away from my place.

Every week I find myself visiting their Sunday store to get more bracelets. Why? Because they do work. Me and my friends have gotten deals unexpectedly and better employment opportunities also came a little along the way. Moreover, those love crystals somehow gave me more patience and understanding these days (yuck, nag mature bigla).

Ever since I’ve discovered The Mala Tree, everything has been light, peaceful and abundant. Just  wearing these crystals brings good vibes that  are enough to change my outlook and mood for the day.

I’d also like to give a shoutout to Alden and Deng, the dynamic duo behind The Mala Tree. The positivity and genuineness that radiates from them truly reflects the quality of the items they willingly share and offer us.

From time to time maybe I’ll share with you some of the crystals I’ve purchased from The Mala Tree. If you’re interested you can browse through their selection of crystals at and you can text or viber them thru 09182450766.

Love and Light,
